May 9th - Day 129 - 236 Days to go!

Today I finally got around to doing some wallpapering.

I finished the parlour walls.

I also finished wallpapering in the library.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the bedroom wallpapered. Once that is done, I can focus on the third floor wallpapering, cut the new wall piece for the bathroom to enclose it, and then the roof assembly.

May 6th - Day 126/239 Days to go!

Yesterday was my mini day with my two mini friends. I picked up Rosemary and off to Peachland we went for a day at Barb's house. Barb had a friend....a mini friend....visiting from Winnipeg so we had a nice visit, ate lots of goodies, and even managed to get some minis done.

I decided that I'd work on my "mini mutts" and I did my little Roxy. She's a sweetie, would love to be a lap dog except that she weights about 50 pounds, has the most incredibly boney elbows, and is just not your stereo-type pitbull. She's a lover definately not a fighter. But I truly believe that there are no bad dogs....just bad owners, and it is all about how they are raised more than genetics. Roxy is definately proof of that.

So here is my Roxy.....full scale, doing what she does best....sleeping!

And this is my mini Roxy....still doing what she does best!

I spent part of the day working on the interior of the Beacon Hill's second floor in preparation for wallpapering. I painted white around the ceiling line, around the doors and windows, the exterior edge of the house at the back. It is a lot easier to do before the wallpaper is in than after. It is a somewhat tedious job but it eliminates any dark bald spots showing up later.

Monday, May 2, 2011 - Day 122/243 Days to go!

Well, I'm finally back. Our local club had their show over the weekend and I spent the last few weeks getting ready so that I'd have enough inventory for my sales table. But....I wasn't only selling....I was also a happy shopper and came home with some new goodies for the Beacon Hill.

We had a new seller this year and he is very new to doing miniatures with his laser cutter and of course, I felt that I should support his endeavours. In fact, I was his first customer....OMG, I took his mini virginity!

This is a bench seat that he made. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it with the vanity that I bought from him or use it with the piano that I bought for the parlour.

This is the vanity he made. The scroll work is incredible.

I also got a little grand piano for the parlour and have a few ideas on how to do some decorative things with it.

I bought two chairs for the front porch....$4 each....how could I say no!

On a garage sale table, I found a dresser that I'll paint white for the nursery.

Picked up a kit for the sewing room for $6!

I was also given (yes for free) a few metal items that I can refurbish to use as well. They are originally pencil sharpeners but I can hide that fact.

Now that the show is over...I can get back to the Beacon Hill. The countdown continues and I don't want to be frantic come December with the deadline pending.

So....hold on to your hats....the whirlwind of construction will be getting underway again....because....

                                                                        I'M BACK!

April 9th - Day 99/266 days to go!

Spring has finally appeared and I've been trying to do some spring re-organizing in my own house. Sadly that didn't leave much time for doing minis. I've also been trying to get organized for our local club's Show and Sale at the end of April. I'm was a little behind in my book-making, but I'm almost caught up and will be ready when its....showtime!

I have done some work on the Beacon Hill. In the evening when I'm watching tv, I have been working on some needlepoint and have finished a welcome mat for the front door.

I finally got time to do some wallpapering and finished the dining room/front hall area, and the floor is complete.

And the second floor has been wallpapered and the floor is complete.

My next project will be to get the parlour wallpapered and that floor done.

My friend Barb made a beautiful white trellis with pink and yellow flowers for me. I'm going to find the perfect place for it on the front porch.

And that is what I've been up to for the last little while.

March 28 - Day 87 - 278 days to go!

I know I've been gone for a while but I'm back! I haven't forgotten about this project, in fact, I have done a little work on it. Sometimes life just gets in the way of doing the things we really love to do and that is what I've been doing....real life stuff with my own "big" house.

I've spent some time doing some flooring in preparation for doing the lighting.

The kitchen floor is done.

The dining room floor is done but still needs to be sealed.

The library floor is done.

The second floor hallway floor is done but still needs to be sealed.

I still need to finish the hallway wallpapering but I'm hoping to get that done this week.

March 10, 2011 - Day 69/296 days to go!

If you wonder where I've been, I haven't forgotten about you or my Beacon Hill. I've been fighting a bout of H1N1 flu. I start the day feeling great and it goes downhill from there.

I have been doing some work on the dollhouse. I wallpapered the kitchen, now have 5 coats of gloss varathane on the wood floor, adjusted the counter to fit since that hidden wall changed the dimensions a little, glued the sink to the cabinet base, made the little cupboard spacer to the left of the sink, painted the upper cabinets for the left wall....but I have to adjust them a little too so they will fit again.

I'm pleased with the wallpaper......what do you think?

March 2nd & 3rd - Day 61 & 62/303 days to go!

While I would love to say that I've been really productive, I have spent time filling little tiny holes with glue. Funny how when I was painting trim areas that those little tiny holes showed up, but they did. So in the interest of structural strength, I stuffed them full of glue...and more glue, then touched them up with paint.

Thursday was mini day with my friends....definately one of my favourite days of the week! The food was great, the conversation was good and the friendship was fabulous. I even managed to squeeze in making a few minis too.

The plan for the weekend is to start doing some wallpapering from the bottom upwards. Once that is done on the first and second floor I can start installing some lighting on the first floor. Then wallpaper the third floor and install the lighting for the second floor. Once the roof is on, I can do the electrical for the third floor.

Well, that's the plan anyway. I will have to see how time goes this weekend.
